Epic Novels of the American Civil War

Welcome

A Welcome Message From Sean K. Gabhann

You have landed at Sean Gabhann’s author website, either intentionally or through fortunate circumstance. I welcome you to visit with us for a while to explore America’s past. My novels seek to provide readers in the general public an alternative from the arid and superficial understanding of American history offered by most education resources. They reveal the past through a vivid immersion into the lives of the ordinary people of the times, men and women.

“A gritty and sometimes-uncomfortable war story set against the Battle of Fort Donelson.

—Kirkus Reviews

"Weaves historical events into the lives of the fictional characters you come to know as the story unfolds. I enjoyed learning more about the way of life the soldier endured during the Civil War, as well as seeing the culture of that time period."

—Indy Quillen, author of the Fox Walker Novels

“One of my favorite writers of historical fiction.”

—Helenkaye Dimon, author of The Games People Play Series and The Corcoran Team Series

"[I was] delighted by how much I enjoyed [Harper’s Donelson]. I found it engaging, thought-provoking and lively. Well-researched, seamlessly interwoven facts made the historical elements informative but not intrusive. The characters were diverse, colorful and fascinating."

—Jill G. Hall, author of the Anne McFarland Series

"They don’t write them like this anymore: sweeping, dramatic, alive with blood and soil, balancing what it would have felt like to be there with the urgent question of what it all meant."

—BookLife Reviews

The Seven Percent Solution

This month, I’d like to take another story from Statesmen of the Confederate Cause by Burton J. Hendrick to tell the tale of the $15,000,000 in Confederate bonds. Having failed to gain English and French recognition in the first year of the American Civil War, the...
